About me

20210407_102859I am the Associate Director of Professional Programming at the Wisconsin School of Business, University of Wisconsin-Madison. I support faculty professional development for teaching and learning. I also recently completed my doctoral program in Curriculum & Instruction (Digital Media) in spring 2020 (I am a “pandemic PhD” 🙂).

My research focus is online learning in higher education, more specifically designing online courses as active, engaged, participatory experiences. For my dissertation I developed a model for course design based on Jenkins’ (2006) participatory cultures framework.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was part of an incredible ‘instructional continuity’ team at UW-Madison. We’ve all worked collaboratively to create and disseminate tons of resources and support for our campus. I’ve designed, and facilitate, a new program for faculty unfamiliar with online teaching. “Preparing to Teach Online” is a one-week, introduction to teaching online and preparing for emergency remote teaching. While this program is currently only available to UW-Madison faculty, it may be offered more broadly soon.Â
